Searching for ‘Greener Grass’: My Relocation Experience

After living in Atlanta for about 20 years, I decided it was time to start looking for ‘greener grass’. I was getting tired of the city life and all that comes with it. I had begun making more and more trips to the North Georgia area. Any excuse would do. Sometimes, I would just spend the day driving around the mountains with no particular plan except to be up here enjoying a little bit of heaven on earth.

I loved the the fresh air from having the top down on the car. The views were spectacular and there were little places along the road that would attract my curiosity and I would just have to stop. Sometimes, it was a waterfall that I could see from the road that I would walk to go see. Other times, it was a little restaurant or shop that would attract my attention.

From the Apple Festival in Ellijay to the Bear on the Square Mountain Festival and Gold Rush Days in Dahlonega and summer fun in Helen there are always things to go do and see throughout the year. I think that, as fun as all that is, I would just as soon go to any of North Georgia’s local State Parks. I really enjoy getting out and exploring the trails and waterfalls that are scattered throughout North Georgia’s Chattahooche National Forest and Blue Ridge Mountains.

So, as I drove up here, I began to miss it more and more as I went back to my life in Atlanta. I began to think about things like quality of life and what was really important to me. I also started to notice that there were growing communities of people who were thinking the same things. Private mountain communities were nestled into the forests and very near some of the amazing parks and attractions I had become so fond of. Communities like Lake Arrowhead, Big Canoe, Marina Bay on Lake Lanier, Falling Waters and so on. I liked the idea of communities like these personally because they bring a level of civilization to them and would allow me to live where I want while at the same time not feeling isolated up in the mountains somewhere.

This being said, I have also noticed amazing homes and private properties that are great examples of grandeur and solitude. Living in places like this full-time isn’t for everyone though which is why I found living in a community of similiar interested people with amenities and social events that bring us together naturally was the way to go for me.

Many of these communities have several options for living there. There are new and pre-owned homes for sale, property for sale on which to build your own custom home or homes to buy that you may want to remodel and/or add enlarge to suit your own lifestyle.

After living in Atlanta for 20 years, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do or where I wanted to live. This is why I took another option. I rented here. I figure that this will give me time to investigate all my options more completely before I make that decision. If you too are unsure about making a purchasing decision, this may be an option for you also.

In today’s real estate market, there are quite a few great deals out there. So, if you are thinking about the greener grass on the other side, come on up to North Georgia and see for yourself. If you would like professional guidance through your decision making process, talk to the pros at the Renner Companies. They will help you develop a plan that will make your dreams a reality. But, don’t wait too long; the market is going to start turning around soon and the best deals will be getting scooped up first.
